To describe this series, I will quote a poem that moved and inspired me to make this series of paintings. About wounds, trauma, tears and healing.
I wish you to heal from what you do not tell anyone, from those pains you bear in silence, from the tears that run down your face before you fall asleep and from all the insults you swallow. I wish you to be healed of your fears, sorrows and insecurities – those that life sends you day after day to make you look towards the Light. I wish you to heal from those traumas, wounds, memories and disappointments that you have silenced, that you have never shared, but that you still feel deep inside. I wish you to heal from the past that is still in you through the emotional scars you carry without complaining. I wish for you to heal from the lies you were once told, the excuses you received then, the recognition you expected but didn’t get, the approval that didn’t come, the gratitude that wasn’t given, the truth that wasn’t offered, all the unfair times you deserved to get the best and it didn’t come to you. I wish you to heal from those pains you have swallowed, cried, silenced, masked, buried. I wish you could heal from the times you said you were “fine” but really weren’t. The moments when you swallowed the crying, the anger, the sadness, the suffering, the betrayal, the disappointment and smiled so that the world would not see your pain so that your smile could warm someone’s heart. I wish you to heal from the times when you felt alone and thought you were abandoned by everyone – even God. I wish you to believe that God knows your worries and is watching you patiently while Life heals you. But healing is a process. Healing can be slow, long, quiet, painful, sometimes difficult and impossible to do alone. But it happens! I wish for you that as many inflict wounds on you that you bear in silence, so others may invisibly help you to heal them. I wish you to be healed of yourself: of all that you fear, of all that you manifest and of all that you silence. I wish you everything you need!”
